The village of Harkerville was named after Robert Charles Harker, who was Government Resident in Plettenberg Bay from 1826 to 1847 controlling the affairs of the town for 21 years.
Surrounded by the Harkerville and Diepwalle Forest, and located midway between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, Harkerville offers easy access to both of these enchanting towns.

Whale Watching Close encounters with whales is almost certain from July to November. Dolphins, Seals Colonies and Seabirds watching can be experienced throughout the year. Professional, safe and authorized boat tours are available either from Knysna or from Plettenberg Bay.

Bird Watching Besides the many bird species resident in the Edenbrook gardens (including the rare Knysna Loerie) the Knysna-Plettenberg Bay area is literally a paradise for bird watchers, due to the abundance of sea, river and forest birds that inhabit this region.

Bungee Jumping The ‘highest bungee jumping bridge’ in the world (The Bloukrans Bridge is 216 meters above the Bloukrans River), the Bloukrans Bungy is located 35km from Plettenberg Bay with direct access from the N2. Open throughout the year, booking recommended.
